FAQ
What is Cheese Toasted?
We are a small Canadian apparel design company that focus on making original apparel designs and patterns. See our About Us page for more information.
What do you make?
We make anything from sweaters, hoodies, t-shirts, other apparels and accessories.
Where are you located?
We are located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Who made the designs on your apparels.
We did. Everything is created from scratch in-house
Are your designs AI generated?
Absolutely not! You may find our work in progresses from sketches to finished product on our instagram page. For our stance, we are strongly against AI generated art. We do not believe a person who is unable to draw without AI is worthy of being called an artist or designer. Putting in word prompts to generate images does not earn one the title of a designer or artist, regardless of how talented they are at writing word prompts.
I still don't believe you did not use AI.
That's too bad. We are sorry you don't believe us. We can agree to disagree. If you are ever at a market event that we attend, the designer is available to do live drawing and designing in-person upon request :).
What apps/programs do you use to make your designs
The designs are first sketched out in either clipstudio paint and photoshop, and then the sketch is taken into adobe illustrator to be lined and coloured in vector. All colours are done and colour matched with a real life pantone reference book (as well as the pantone app extension in our adobe programs). Colour matching is a time consuming and tedious job, but it ensure colour accuracy in our final product.
How long does it take for you to design each apparel?
1-2 months per design in general. The sleeves often requires a lot of redrawing and redesigning surprisingly, since it often needs to synergize with the main design, but not over-shadowing it.
How durable are your apparels?
Very durable. Especially after receiving feedback from our buyers who had worn our apparels for years, we can now confidently say our apparels are quite durable and tough. We do chose to use premium quality fabrics to ensure that, despite the higher manufacturing costs, that the apparel stays durable. In a world of maximizing profit while using the cheapest materials, we strongly believe anyone who is paying a premium price for apparel should receive a premium product with superior material and construction. Everything from the fabric, printing, to the stitching has been closely refined by us to ensure the quality of our apparels.
What do you use for your apparel printing?
We use silk-screen printing for almost all of our apparels. Some are also embroidered.
How durable is your shirt printing?
We use silk screen printing, but also one that's super durable. Base on our customer feedback, people have said our silk screen printing is durable enough to last for years. Some stated they are even able to keep it in 100% pristine condition by taking care of it like how you would with any other silk screen printed apparels.
As the designer of Cheese Toasted is a very lazy person when it comes to her own laundry, she designed our apparel quality in a way so that it can be thrown in the washer and dryer in whatever setting she feels like on that day. However, unlike our designer's terrible habits, we still recommend you to follow our washing instructions. This is to ensure the silk screen prints remain flawless for years to come.
How warm are your sweatshirts?
Really warm fam. We are located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, so our sweatshirts and hoodies are designed for the windy and cold climate of the Rocky Mountains.
Will you offer the sweaters and hoodies in thinner materials? It's too warm.
Never say never, we could potentially look into that if there are enough demands for it.
What material do your use for your apparels?
For sweatshirts and hoodies, we use a jersey-fleece ultra soft fabric that is 65% cotton, and 35% polyester special blend.
For T-shirts, we are currently using a 100% stretch cotton thick blend, so shirt fabric will be extra thick and opaque regardless of how light or dark the shirt colour may be.
What's the sizing of your apparel?
We generally use US unisex sizing, but please refer to each product page for specific sizing. Also refer to our sizing guide for further details.
Are your apparels pre-washed?
Yes.
Why are your apparel so expensive?
We think the amount of hours dedicated to designing, testing fabric, and drafting our apparel patterns should be properly compensated. And the premium quality we bring to our apparel and accessories design make the pricing extremely reasonable.
I found your apparel design cheaper somewhere else, why is yours so expensive?
We are sorry you decided to support stolen designs, and we obviously cannot stop you. Our prices reflect time spent on our designs and the premium quality we offer. Absolutely, please use the contact form to send us your wishes and we'll take it into account when we design our next apparel.
Can I make suggestions?
Absolutely, please use the contact form to send us your feedback or suggestions. We are always happy to hear from you.
What size are the models wearing?
Almost all models are made to wear size M in photoshoots for consistency, unless otherwise specified in the product page itself.
Did you edit/alter model photos?
Yes we did, we try to keep that to a minimum. We often edit out unflattering shadows on faces that might occur in uncontrolled lighting under unpredictable shooting conditions. Or we may remove anything that might distract the viewer from the apparels, which is the main focus of our photos (such as a strands of hair flying wild). Majority of editing is lighting and colour editing. We try to colour-match the apparels to make them look as similar to the actual product in real life as possible. We do edit out some creasing in the apparels since the designer is too lazy to iron/steam the apparel prior to photoshoot sometimes. Other things are edited based on model request. We do not alter model bodies in any way during our photoshoot.
Do you curate your reviews?
For the most part, we do not. Whether the review is positive or negative, we will use it as feedback to improve ourselves, and they will remain publicly available. The only reviews we will remove will be spam and those irrelevant to the product itself. We will also remove a review if a reviewer request to have their own reviews removed. We use a third party review app on our website that also hold our authenticity accountable.
Why are there spelling mistakes?
Oops! Well that's embarrassing, we are sorry! There is a human behind every sentences and words written for our website, so mistakes can happen. Please feel free to let us know of our mistakes via the contact form :).
